Spreading; is the process in which the production plans and calculations made for the ‘Material’, which constitutes 60 to 70 percent of the total garment cost, begin to be implemented. CAD systems solve geometric layout problems using popular marker placement algorithms. However, marker efficiency alone cannot guarantee total fabric savings. Because types of waste such as end of roll, overlap, spread/cutting tolerance and fabric faults are outside the scope of CAD and are generally ignored.
